A new season begins and we have everything ready for you to enjoy a fun and comfortable holiday in Benidom. Is June the month you have chosen to come and pay us a visit? Here are some plans and dates for you to enjoy on your holidays in the town.

San Juan ‘Hogueras’ (bonfires) in Benidorm

If there is a date in June that you must mark on your calendar, it would be the San Juan Hogueras (Bonfires) . The arrival of the summer solstice, when the longest day of the year and the shortest night takes place, it deserves celebrating and, although the center of the celebration has its roots in the municipality of San Juan and in the city of Alicante itself, the Benidorm locals like to join in this ancestral tradition.

The ‘Hogueras’ begin on the 21st June. The incredible cardboard based structures are assembled, in the same way as the famous Valencian ‘fallas’, and throughout the days running up to the 24th activities and events are held with the ‘Beauty of fire’ as their main feature. The festivities end on the 24th, the night when the Hogueras of each town are burnt. The early morning of the 23rd to the 24th is one of the most magical, in which the Benidorm locals gather on the beaches of the town enjoying the traditional rituals to drive away bad wishes by burning them on small bonfires. Why not try this tradition yourself? We’re sure you’ll love it.

Eating out in Benidorm

One of the most important things that you look for when planning your holiday or when you are away is somewhere to eat. We have already given you some recommendations on our blog where to eat in Benidorm, but in June we need to add to the list. From 16th to 24th June a new edition of the Tapas and ‘Pinchos’ competition is celebrated in Benidorm.

Throughout these days many bars and restaurants make exclusive limited edition tapas and ‘pinchos’ that you can try at very low prices. We are sure you will find the best ones in the Basque Country Area Tapas Alley, a great plan if you’re lucky enough to be in Benidorm that week.

See Benidorm from a kayak

June in Benidorm is a great time of year to enjoy the weather without getting too hot. It’s an ideal time to take advantage of one of the many options Benidorm has to offer in the sea, why not book a kayak trip. A fun and original plan, healthy and lets you discover Benidorm from a different perspective.

Benidorm also has the Sierra Gelada Natural Park, bordering it by sea is a great way to see it, maybe take a route from Benidorm to Altea.
