One of the first major events of the Benidorm celebrations calendar will take place, this year, on the first weekend of March. We are talking about Benidorm Carnival 2019 and after you discover everything we have to tell you, you will want to pack your bags and come to enjoy a few days\u2019 holiday in Benidorm.<\/p>\n
While it is true that carnivals are not a traditional celebration in our territory, what characterizes us most is our desire to party and have fun. That\u2019s why, months before the day, the Benidorm locals begin to prepare their fancy dress and we are not exaggerating when we say that on the night of the Carnival, a festive spirit of happiness and excitement can be felt in Benidorm, one of the best weekends of the year.<\/p>\n
A night of conviviality, when friends meet up and with lots of laughter, a night in which music, lights, glitter and makeup take to the streets of the old town. The events of the weekend start at 10:30 am along the town centre streets. First the children’s parade will take place and we will be able to get a closer look at the youngest one\u2019s great costumes as they travel through the \u2018Escuelas\u2019, \u2018Ruzafa\u2019 and \u2018Herrer\u00edas\u2019 Streets until they arrive at the Plaza de SSMM Reyes de Espa\u00f1a (the town hall square). There will be a playground installed and bars with popular prices for everyone\u2019s enjoyment.<\/p>\n
At 9:30 p.m. it is time for the adult\u2019s parade. On this occasion, the parade starts on Venus Street and takes the same route as the children’s. This time in the town hall square there is a large tent awaiting us with bars to order food and drink at popular prices and djs from \u2018Los 40 Principales\u2019 ( a well-known radio station) to keep the party going until dawn.<\/p>\n

In case you didn\u2019t know, in many parts of Spain and Latin America, Ash Wednesday is celebrated with the so-called \u00bb sardine burial\u00bb to end the carnival and mark the beginning of Lent. The party consists in a carnival parade in which they perform a parody of the burial of a symbolic figure, usually represented by a giant sardine.<\/p>\n
The gathering takes place on the night of the 5th March and the early morning of the 6th. The parades \/ processions will begin at 10.30pm through the streets of the centre (La Biga, Tom\u00e1s Ortu\u00f1o, Escuelas, Ruzafa, Paseo de la Carretera) and ends on Paseo Colon, where the sardine will be burned and there will be a fireworks display.
